Newlong Industrial Company, Limited (NLI) has been focused on the development of packaging machinery technology since our establishment in 1941. We have developed packaging systems for many applications, including grains and powdered food products, fertilizers and minerals, chemicals and specialty chemicals, animal feeds and pet foods, cement and aggregates, and clean-room applications such as within semiconductor fabs. We manufacture a variety of bag making machinery, automatic open-mouth bagging lines, and are one of the world’s most respected industrial sewing head brands.
In the Japanese market NLI has an overwhelming market share of 95% for industrial sewing machines, 90% for bag making machines, and 80% for automatic bagging machines. We have the largest market share in Asia in general as well, and are a leading manufacturer worldwide within our industrial niches. As a packaging industry pioneer, we have consistently adapted to our customers’ changing needs and are always ready to meet industry trends.

NLI INDIA established in Gurugram, Haryana as NLI PACKAGING MACHINES PRIVATE LIMITED.
September 2007
Business is being expanded at 24 sales bases in Japan and 23 Sales bases overseas.
April 2002
Newlong Industrial Co., Ltd assumed direct responsibility for all marketing and sales of the NLI line of products.
July 2000
Merged with Nihon Giken Co., Ltd. Established production and sales of kitchen equipment.
September 1991
Established the Kitakata Factory in Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture.
April 1991
Established the Koide Factory in Koide, Niigata Prefecture.
April 1985
Established the Kashiwa Factory in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture. Production from the Aoto plant was moved to the Kashiwa plant.
April 1974
Established the Odate Factory in Odate, Akita Prefecture.
August 1973
Paid-in capital increased to JPY100,000,000.
November 1968
Established the Nagano Factory for the production of industrial sewing machine parts in Nagano city.
July 1968
Established Choei Co., Ltd., an accidental insurance and real estate agent.

Built a new Office and plant building of 3,432m2 floor space on the Aoto Factory site, Katsushika -ku, Tokyo.
September 1965
Developed the Model 12M multi-wall tuber.
July 1964
Cho Sewing Machine Company, responsible for sales, changed it's name to Newlong Machine Works, Ltd.
November 1961
Established the Fujioka Factory in Fujioka, Tochigi-ken after purchasing 59,400m2 of land with a 2,310m2 building, and started manufacturing industrial sewing machines.
October 1961
Paid-in capital increased to JPY36,000,000.
September 1956
The manufacturing and sales departments became independent. Newlong Industrial Co., Ltd. became responsible for all manufacturing, and the Cho Sewing Machine Company for all sales. (Presently named Newlong Machine Works, Ltd.)
February 1954
The company purchased an additional 990m2 of land next to the Aoto Factory in order to build 825m2 of additional production facility. Started the production of multi-wall paper bag making machines.
May 1950
Paid-in Capital was increased to JPY1,000,000. The company purchased 4950m2 of land with a 2310m2 building in Aoto, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo. Large-scale mass production started.
March 1948
The first sales branch was established in Nicho-machi, Taito-ku, Tokyo. The privately-held company was incorporated as Cho Sewing Machine Co., Ltd.
March 1941
The Cho Sewing Machine Company was founded by Yuzaburo Cho for the repair and sale of Special Industrial Sewing Machines in Senju, Adachi-ku, Tokyo.
